FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chilton ISD has named Interim Athletic Director Bennie Huitt as the permanent Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for the Chilton Pirates.
For the last 3 years, Bennie Huitt has been employed at Chilton ISD, serving as the Assistant Athletic Director, Assistant Head Football Coach, Defensive Coordinator, and Head Powerlifting Coach. Huitt was selected as the Interim Athletic Director after AD/Head football coach Christopher James resigned earlier in March.
Coach Bennie Huitt is a 1992 Graduate of Marlin High School. He was a college athlete at Ranger College and Angelo State University. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at Angelo State University, and later a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
Coach Huitt brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the district. Before his employment, at Chilton ISD he served as the Athletic Director/Head Football Coach at Marlin ISD, Assistant Athletic Director/Assistant Head Football Coach, and Defensive Coordinator at Trinity ISD; and Assistant Athletic Director/Offensive Consultant at Navasota ISD.
As Athletic Director/Head Football Coach at Marlin ISD, Huitt led the Bulldogs to a Bi-District Championship and Area Round Playoffs in 2015. He was named District 10-AA Coach of the Year, and Staff of the Year. His team was selected as Waco Tribune Most Successful Story, KWTX Team of the Week. He was selected to coach in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Game.
Huitt believes that his greatest coaching responsibility lies in creating a winning attitude on and off the playing fields. Huitt is excited about the opportunity that Chilton ISD has provided him and plans to work to elevate the overall athletic department at the district.

Good Morning. Thank you, Pirate Nation, for your patience and flexibility throughout the on-going management of district operations during the COVID pandemic. While we will continue many of our mitigation practices (frequent cleaning of high use areas, use of our air purifier systems, and other critical prevention factors), the Chilton ISD Board of Trustees has elected to make masks optional moving forward. We will operate under the following plan:
-Masks are optional when the active infection rate is below 4% of the district population.
-Masks will once again be required if the active infection rate exceeds 4% of the district population.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility throughout this process.
Pirate Nation,
Let’s Congratulate Luis F. And Braylen F. on advancing to the regional tennis tournament. We wish you all the best as you advance.
There will be a town hall meeting held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chilton ISD Cafeteria regarding the upcoming Chilton ISD bond election.

Bond Fact Friday:
The CISD Board of Trustees called a series of community meetings where a Facility Committee toured Chilton ISD buildings and established a list of priorities. After reviewing the financial standing of the District, the impact of the incoming solar farm(s), campus classroom capacity, and potential project costs, the Committee settled on a recommendation to add classrooms to the elementary and secondary campuses and, as District taxable values allow, build a new multipurpose building to include a competition gymnasium and District cafeteria. The Committee's recommendation included the calling of a bond election for May 7th, 2022, and the Chilton ISD Board of Trustees unanimously accepted.
